The story behind Kalsubai Unveiled:

It is truly believed by the local villagers that a housemaid residing in a nearby village had disappeared near the mountain while trying to escape her employer’s harsh suffering. This gives the mountain its present name as well as a reason for this temple to be built in her memory.

Kalsubai Trek Itinerary

Day 1 –

  • 08:52 PM Board Kasara Train from CSMT
  • 11:15 PM Reach Kasara and Meet our Leaders.
  • 11:30 PM Board privately booked vehicles.
  • 11:45 PM Head to Bari, where we will be commencing our Kalsubai trek.
  • 01:15 AM Reach Bari. Get refreshed with an Icebreaking session and Intro round with instruction.
  • 02:45 AM Start Trek for Kalsubai Peak.
  • 06:00 AM We reach Kalsubai temple in time for the sunrise.
  • 06:30 AM enjoy a beautiful view of Bhandardara’s Arthur lake from the summit.
  • 06:45 AM Start Descending back.
  • 07:00 AM grab a quick breakfast on the mountain and continue the descend.
  • 11:00 AM Reach back down at the base village.
  • 11:30 AM Time to head back to Kasara station.
  • 03:00 PM Back to the mundane city life. Its time to Say Asta Lavista…!!!

Numerous trains ply between Mumbai and Kasara which takes about 2-2:30 hours to reach Kasara and you can choose as per your convenience. On reaching Kasara Railway Station, our team will be taking you to the base- Bari village by local transport. From there, you will start your Kalsubai trek.

However, you may even take a bus or hire a taxi from Mumbai and directly reach Bari village. Transportation connectivity is very good from Mumbai and reaching the base for trek will not be a problem.
You can take a train from Pune to Kalsbai via Kasara. It takes around 4-4:30 hours to reach Kasara from Pune. On reaching Kasara Railway Station, our team will be taking you to the base- Bari village by local transport which is the starting point of your Kalsubai expedition. You may even take a bus to the base village or even hire a taxi. Self-drive down is also possible from Pune.
Kalsubai is most famous for the spectacular beauty it offers from the pinnacle. Tourists from all over the Globe get attracted to the surreal views which bring them to this gorgeous looking peak. It is known to be a paradise for all trekkers. Some even call it the Mecca for trekkers and adventure enthusiasts.

Trekking has contributes to the fame of Kalsubai immensely. Trekkers wish to summit at the crest at least once in their lifetime. The sight of mountains, landscapes, forts, water bodies, and the lush green plantation makes it heaven, hidden from the man-made world.

The temple at Kalsubai peak is also a major contributing factor in its popularity. It is dedicated to the local deity of the place, which attracts a large number of devotees each year. The Arthur Lake, Bhandardara Dam, Wildlife Sanctuary and the forts, make this place an ideal getaway to relax and unwind amidst the beauty of nature.

The total distance for the trek is 12 kilometres. You start the trek from Bari village at around 3:15 AM and reach the peak around 7:15 AM. The total time for uphill trek is about 4 hours and the descending takes about 3 hours.
