Highlights

Overview

  • Day 1 –

Arrive at Tyrna village (in Cherrapunjee), the base point for the Living Root Bridge trek to the double-decker bridge by early afternoon.

Go down the 3.5 km path with your team guide through the jungle.

Drink water and try some local lime juice on the way.

As soon you as you reach the double-decker bridge you can put your baggage in the home-stay.

Come back, enjoy the mind-blowing water bodies near the double-decker bridge and feel awesome while you get a free fish pedicure.

Stay overnight in the homestay in Nongriat village.

The homestay is very basic with fading walls and rickety beds but this is the only option for a night stay in this particular village.

The bathrooms are clean but there is no running water, so you need to carry your buckets from the tap right outside the homestay.

    • Day 2 –

After breakfast, proceed for the Living Root Bridge trek in the jungle.

Cross many more living root bridges and a few hanging bridges to reach rainbow falls.

You will be trekking for approximately 2 hours one way.

But it’s better to see the rainbow falls in the afternoon as the sunlight would trigger the rainbow as the sun moves towards the west.

Swim near the waterfalls or get a dip in the smaller ponds nearby.

Get back to the Nongriat Village homestay and retire for the night.

    • Day 3 –

Start climbing back up around 10:00 AM.

The steep climb to reach the parking spot on the well is time taking.

Reach the top of the stairs and depart.
